AI In Aviation Is Evolving: Highlights From Bluetail’s Latest Webinar
What if your aircraft records could do the work for you — find what you need, catch what’s missing, and tell the whole story on their own? That’s the vision behind four new AI-powered capabilities Bluetail recently introduced on their webinar titled “Aircraft Records Were the Beginning”. In the webinar, Head of Sales Ben Kroll and Chief Technology Officer Kent Pickard demonstrated how these tools help teams find information faster, identify gaps, and get more value from their aircraft records.
Where This Started And Where The Industry Is Headed
Ben and Kent have spent countless hours talking with maintenance professionals about what actually slows their day down. One thing kept coming up: how much time gets spent on work outside their training — chasing paperwork, digging through logbooks, cross-referencing compliance, answering the same question over and over.
That’s time the industry can’t afford to lose, especially right now. With the AMT shortage, operators can’t just add headcount to close productivity gaps — they need existing teams making the most of the time they have. Bluetail’s newest AI features were built with that in mind. Technology like AI in aviation is changing the ways that maintenance teams are able to solve problems in a faster and more resourceful way.
Ben and Kent framed the webinar around that idea, walking through each feature with an eye toward how much time it could give back to teams buried in paperwork.
A Look At The Dashboard
Before introducing the new AI capabilities, Kent gave a quick tour of Bluetail’s dashboard and core platform, highlighting how automation and artificial intelligence are expanding what’s possible with the way aircraft records are managed.
Ask Bluetail
Ask Bluetail is an AI-powered conversational tool that lets you search your records using natural language and get an answer back in minutes. Think of it like ChatGPT, but for your aircraft records.
You can ask something as specific as:
“What are the recurring non-routine maintenance discrepancies that have happened on this aircraft over the past 10 years?”
Or request a full document pull:
“Include all paperwork related to the currently installed starter generator — log entries for inspections, maintenance, and the authorized release certificate.”
Lifecycle Timeline
The Lifecycle Timeline pulls inspections, maintenance events, component changes, and other key records into a single chronological view. No more piecing together an aircraft’s history document by document.
AI-Generated Logbooks
Bluetail’s AI engine reviews every loaded document, sorts it into chronological order, and builds a digital logbook that can be shared securely with maintenance providers, auditors, buyers, or other stakeholders anywhere in the world. It’s especially useful heading into a resale, an audit, or any moment when someone outside your team needs a clear, complete record fast.
Compliance Check
Compliance Check lives inside Bluetail’s existing Compliance product. Upload any maintenance report, including spreadsheets and maintenance tracking logs, and it reviews the documents for gaps — missing signatures, wrong dates, incomplete entries — so teams can trust the records stored in Bluetail. Any gaps it finds are flagged for review, so nothing slips through before it becomes a bigger problem down the line.
Questions From The Audience
Do I need FAA authorization to use Bluetail? Bluetail is built to support digital record keeping in line with FAA requirements, so operators can adopt as much digital record keeping as they’re authorized for.
How does privacy work with Ask Bluetail? Your data belongs to you. It’s not shared with other companies, and it stays within Bluetail’s primary AI data centers.
How quickly can a business get set up in Bluetail? As fast as you’re ready to move. Once your records are loaded, the AI takes it from there. Get started today.
The webinar made one thing clear: aircraft records were just the beginning. Together, these four AI-powered capabilities represent a new way of working with aircraft records—not just storing information, but searching it, understanding it, and putting it to work.
